The Kenya Accountants and Secretaries National Examination Board (KASNEB) Foundation has partnered with the Higher Education Loans Board (HELB) to set up the KASNEB Foundation and Bursary Scheme to offer financing to students pursuing KASNEB qualifications in various accredited universities and colleges in Kenya.
The scheme will cater KASNEB registration fees, annual registration renewal fees, examination booking fees, exemption fees and tuition fees for eligible students.
Who is eligible to apply?
- An applicant should be an existing KASNEB student or meet the minimum entry requirements to register for any of the following KASNEB qualifications.
Post graduate and professional courses
1 Certified Forensic Fraud Examiner (CFFE)
2 Certified Public Accountants (CPA)
3 Certified Secretaries (CS)
4 Certified Investment and Financial Analysts (CIFA)
5 Certified Credit Professionals (CCP)
6 Certified Information Systems Solutions Expert (CISSE)
Diploma courses
1 Accounting Technicians Diploma (ATD)
2 Diploma in Data Management and Analytics (DDMA)
3 Diploma in Computer Networks and Systems Administration (DCSNA)
Certificate courses
1 Certificate in Accounting and Management Skills (CAMS)
- Applicants from poor backgrounds, orphans, persons with disabilities, marginalized areas and needy students determined as per guidelines.
- Applicants must be students at a fully accredited training institution or KASNEB self-study students.
What do you require to apply?
I)As an applicant you will require the following to apply
- Copy of national identity card
- Copy of KRA pin certificate(s) where applicable
- Accurate email address
- Accurate phone number
- Admission letter (for tuition only fees)
ii)Parent/Guardians
- Copy of national identity card
- Copy of KRA pin certificates where applicable
- Copy of latest bank statements if in business or farming
- Copy of letters of retirement /retrenchment if parent is no longer employed
iii)Guarantors
Copy of national identity card
Steps for first time application
Step 1 Applicants should visit the HELB website www.helb.co.ke
Step 2 Register, create and activate account (ensure you use your personal mobile number)
Step 3 Log in and click loan application tab, on the left dashboard
Step 4 Select the level of study and employment status
Step 5 Select the intended loan product

Step 6 Read, understand and accept the terms and conditions and data protection consent form
Step 7 Follow each step to complete the online form and preview before submission and printing
Step 8 Print two copies of the duly filled application forms and ensure the forms are appropriately filled, signed and stamped by relevant signatories
Step 9 Submit the form to HELB student center on Mezzanine 1 floor at Anniversary Towers or through post or any Huduma centre HELB desk (Retain a copy of the duly filled and signed application forms)
Subsequent applications
Eligible students;
Students enrolled in approved KASNEB courses and are applying for second and subsequent student loan
How to apply for subsequent applications
Step 1 Download the HELB App from Google Play store or use USSD CODE by dialing *642#
Step 2 Register using your phone number to generate a PIN which you will use to log in
Step 3 Ensure the mobile number is registered under your name. Please note that mobile numbers not registered in the student’s name will not be able to proceed with the application
Step 4 Read, understand and click the license agreement
Step 5 Enter your first name as it appears on your national ID card, ID number and valid email address to complete registration
Step 6 Click on the “loans” tab and choose certificate /Diploma. then click apply on the TVET second and subsequent loan
Step 7 Read and understand the process tutorial and proceed to read the financial literacy guide
Step 8 Click on get started to start the application process
Step 9 Enter your phone number which should be registered in your name and national ID number to verify that you are the owner of that number
Step 10 Read and understand the loan terms and conditions and condition and agree to proceed
Step 11 Answer the financial literacy questions and scroll down to view results and click proceed
Step 12 Select your preferred loan payment option
Step 13 Click request loan to view and verify your loan details
Step 14 Click submit to complete the loan application. A pop-up message will appear to show that you have successfully applied. the loan serial number will also be displayed
Step 15 At later dates you will receive other notifications on awards and disbursements of tuition loans and where applicable, bursary.
